Spotted Gum Chairs

An image of an old style kitchen chair was the client’s inspiration for this set of dining chairs. The idea of a simple, very robust and honest interpretation of what a chair is was the focus of this design. To help resolve the curved backrest, seat angle and height, a full scale mock up in pine and chipboard was made. A variety of different size and shaped people tested the mock up to ensure the ergonomics were just right.  The toughness of Spotted Gum timber, held together with 14 mortise and tenon joints will, ensure these very comfortable chairs will be around for a long time.
